Whether your dream remote-work backdrop features moody Icelandic scenery or long stretches of Brazilian coastline, there are plenty of countries offering digital nomad visas right now.
Cities like Lisbon regularly top the rankings as great all-round destinations for remote workers &ndash but while you might pick a digital nomad destination based on stuff like weather, affordability and salary requirements, one factor that&rsquos particularly important for woman-identifying travellers is safety.

To help women narrow down their options, travel booking platform Holidu has looked into the best and safest cities for female digital nomads in 2025. The study analysed the top 200 cities for digital nomads (according to Nomads.com) based on factors including how safe it is for women to walk alone, friendliness to women and foreigners, the ratio of male to female nomads, and local legislation on workplace sexual harassment.

Topping the list as the safest place for women digital nomads was Taipei, which had the second-highest safety score for walking alone at night and ranks as &lsquogreat&rsquo for friendless to women and visitors from abroad.
And outside of working hours, the Taiwanese capital has bags of brilliant culture and nature to explore. The Red House is the city&rsquos first public market, which has been around since 1908, and functions as a hub for design, cultural events and the city&rsquos LGBTQ+ community, all in one place.
For some fresh air where you can still soak up the city&rsquos iconic skyline, don your walking boots and head to Elephant Mountain for the Xiangshan Hiking Trail.
Taipei isn&rsquot the only Taiwanese city to make the list though &ndash Kaohsiung, a port city on the island&rsquos southwestern coast, comes in seventh place.
